Douglas Adams (1952-2001) is that author who wrote the delightful Hitchhiker's Guide To the Galaxy. If you haven't read the books or seen the movie yet (which you should immediately!) you should know that whenever hiching a ride on a UFO you should always bring a towel. (Personally, I'd bring the toothpaste, toothbrush and toilet paper as well.)
And now for the health and beauty tip of the day: If you have an old tattered towel, cut it up in little pieces, roll them up and put them in a pretty container near the sink - those will be one-time face towels only. Do not use the hand towel or the bath towel to wipe your face, because a face is like a major germ magnet. The last thing you want to do is rub some yesterday's acne bacteria or some toe fungus unto your face! Put the dirty little face towels in a plastic bag and wash them separately in hot water and allery-free detergent and dry them in hot air without those perfume-saturated dryer sheets. And you definitely never want to use the same towel the other family members or guests might have used!
Here is a pretty basket I got at a thrift store to keep my little face towels in. Now whenever I have a boring guest that just talks and talks I have something to do - I embroider cat faces on my little face towels.
