Why do women wear a bra? They mistakenly believe that wearing a bra keeps their breasts from sagging. A study just done this spring in France proves that quite the opposite is true - NOT wearing a bra keeps your breasts perky.
Professor Jean-Denis Rouillon, a sports medicine specialist from Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Besancon in Besancon, France, published the results of the study showing that wearing bras does not prevent women's breasts from sagging, but may actually worsen sagging.
The study span 15 years and used 330 volunteers between the ages 18 and 35. Their breasts were measured throughout the study period:
Women who did not wear bras had a 7 millimeter lift as measured from their nipples each year. Their breasts were also firmer, and their stretch marks faded.
Are there other good reasons to stop wearing a bra? Yes!
A medical researcher Sydney Singer and his wife Soma Grismaijer conducted a study connecting wearing bras to developing breast cancer. They studied 4,500 women in five cities across the U.S. about their bra wearing habits and published their findings in a book Dressed to Kill. The results were:

- 3 out of 4 women who wore their bras 24 hours per day developed breast cancer.
- 1 out of 7 women who wore bras more than 12 hour per day but not to bed developed breast cancer.
- 1 out of 152 women who wore their bras less than 12 hours per day got breast cancer.
- 1 out of 168 women who wore bras rarely or never acquired breast cancer.
