1. Tea contains lots of fluoride and some aluminum, and elderly rats given a lot of green tea had aluminum content increase in their brains, which is a bad thing, since too much aluminum in the brain is thought to cause Alhzimers.
2. A cup of black tea contains as much fluoride as medication prescribed for overactive thyroid, which means that people who don't need it get their thyroid function reduced. And since sluggish thyroid causes weight gain, it doesn't do any good to drink green tea to lose weight.
3. A scientist Dean Burk who used to work for National Cancer Institute testified at a congressional hearings in 1981 that over 40,000 deaths in that year were attributable to too much fluoride. He said that no chemical causes as much cancer, and faster, as fluoride.
4. To make the situation really depressing, not only black and green teas contain fluoride and aluminum, but herb teas as well, just not as much.
5. Black and green tea is also very bad for the teeth, it stains them and weakens enamel.
At least get rid of extra fluoride in the drinking water.
