The eye of the birch
Is it a real eye,
Is it seeing anything,
How did first eye
evolve while it was still blind?
Is this photo showing
evolution in progress?
The Royal Horticultural Society in England did an experiment in 2009 on human voices affecting the growth of plants. The team was led by no other than Darwin's great-great-granddaughter Sarah, and she read to a plant, guess what? Yes, Darwin's On the Origin of Species. And guess what? That plant grew 1.6 centimeters higher than all the rest. Overall, plants preferred women's voices over men's, but Sarah's plant was taller still. Was it because Sarah's voice was more pleasant than the rest, or was it that the plant was actually interested in the subject matter?
