What are the possibilities of what happens when you die? I came up with 11:

1. You disappear into nothingness...
    a) ...forever and nothing will happen ever again.
    b) ...only while this universe lasts, after it dies and another one starts up, you might live again, and it won't feel like you waited all that time, because you didn't exist, therefore couldn't feel that passing of time.
2. You never die. Instead, you continue living in a parallel universe in which you didn't die. So, even if you get really old, you'll end up in some universe where you find a fountain of youth and keep going.
3. This reality is not real but a virtual reality of some sort. If you die, you suddenly find yourself a geeky fat guy sitting in front of a computer with a fancy helmet on.
4. When you die, your consciousness or soul blends in with a person nearest to you genetically, such as your child, a niece, or even a total stranger. You never notice when it happens, you believe you always were that person, however, the personality is slightly affected by this, as a result. A way to visualize this: mankind is a tree and you were a branch which got dried up and got cut off, but you were never just that branch, your consciousness was in the whole tree, but each individual branch had a little extra sensitivity. For instance, an octopus has tentacles that are actually self-conscious and can act on their own.

5. Your soul is allowed to enter an animal. For instance, after my mom died, a dog suddenly came to live with us for a while, and it felt like the dog was my mom. She stayed a few months and just as suddenly left. So maybe when you die, you can come back for a while in a pet to hang out with your loved ones, before going elsewhere.
6. You are in deep sleep somewhere, like in the movie Matrix. When you die, you either wake up there, or you die, because, possibly, all your organs have been harvested by now. Or maybe you were in cryogenic sleep, stored away to be defrosted in the future, and that future came, or something happened to the facility, like a big earthquake or a it got bombed, and the life support broke.
7. You actually died long time ago, and your consciousness was uploaded on the server. But to make the experience of life more realistic, you get to 'die' and then 'live' again, and it keeps circling in an endless loop. Your memory cachet gets emptied every time, so you don't get bored, so you believe you only live once. The quality of your 'life' would depend on how much you paid.
8. You get reincarnated into another person.
9. Heaven:
    a) Conventional idea of heaven: This place sounds awfully boring - sitting around doing nothing but worship someone. No adventures, no right and wrong anymore - everything is only good and right, so no arguments, no debates, no differences of opinions. Most fun movies and books are banned for violence, heresy, sex... Wait, would sex be allowed in heaven? Would science? This is a place I would not want to go.
    b) Modernized idea of heaven: This is better - a place where you can do anything you want, just imagine it, and it's yours. Except, still, everything and everyone have to be strictly good and kind and sweet and loving all the time, which might get boring, too, always having everything you want, only if it is 'good', of course, so you might not be able to fulfill your dream of being a stand-up comedian, for example, because comedy is only funny when it offends someone.
    c) The idea of heaven as a higher plane, where you get a full-time job as an angel and watch people below and try to save them from Evil. This presumes that there is such thing as Evil, which I'm not sure exists. But in this Heaven it does, and you get to fight it day after day. I wonder if you ever get promoted to something like and arch-angel? But if you do, nothing really changes, you just have more responsibilities. Do you get a palace or live in a sterile white room and eat in all-white cafeteria, and all you can see from your window are white clouds rolling around. Which gives you motivation to get down to Earth and work 24-7. But there are all those rules, such as, you're not allowed to fall in love, but, of course, that's really hard, so you end up falling in love and get sent to Hell.
10. Hell:
    a) Traditional hell: fire and brimstone and endless tortures and mean devils with forks herding the sinners from one torture to the next. By being super mean to others you can be promoted to a devil or a demon and to torture others instead. Perhaps the combined psychic energy of all the evil-hating Christians, Jews and Muslims demands all bad people to be punished, especially if they got away with their evil doings during their lifetimes, so the combined energy of everyone's faith and hatred creates a place or a force field that can trap souls and make them suffer, projecting the conventional suffering ideas unto them, so it feels real to the trapped.
    b) Hell in which you create your own hell, where your negativity and fears and insecurities become real and you have to battle them forever, unless you get smart and stop. Which is pretty much what we do here on Earth, anyway, so I wonder if we aren't already living in this hell.
11. Purgatory. That's where you go if you weren't totally awful, like Hitler, and only need to be punished for a little while, and can go to Heaven afterwards. There is also a theory that we live in Purgatory, and in that case we'll be going straight to Heaven when we die.
