Soup is great for you, except for the soup sold in cans at the grocery store. Canned soups are loaded with very bad chemicals, such as: monosodium glutamate - MSG, tons of sodium, enriched wheat flower, corn starch, fat, ferrous sulfate, soy protein isolate, dextrose, fructose corn syrup, sodium phosphate, corn maltodextrin, acacia gum, partially hydrogenated oil, sugar, sodium ascorbate, and color. What are some of those weird ingredients? Well, here is the list of them and what they do to you:
Ferrous sulfate -
a form of iron, FeSO4, was used in ink and paint manufacturing, as a fertilizer, a moss killer, and a photo developer. To quote drugs.com: "Ask a doctor or pharmacist if it is safe for you to take ferrous sulfate" because "An overdose of iron can be fatal, especially in a young child. Overdose symptoms may include nausea, severe stomach pain, bloody diarrhea, coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds, shallow breathing, weak and rapid pulse, pale skin, blue lips, and seizure (convulsions)."
Soy protein isolate -
Soy is one of the top eight allergens. Its immediate reactions include: coughing, sneezing, runny nose, hives, diarrhea, difficulty swallowing, and anaphylactic shock. Delayed reactions to it are even more common and occur anywhere from several hours to several days after the food is eaten, such as: sleep disturbances, sinus and ear infections, joint paint, chronic fatigue, gastrointestinal problems, and other symptoms. In the past, the soy protein left over from soy-oil extraction went to make animal feed. Now food manufacturers make it palatable by the use of unhealthy additives such as sweeteners, salt, artificial flavorings, and MSG.
Dextrose and Corn maltodextrin, as well as High Fructose Corn Syrup -
pretty much the same stuff - artificial sweeteners, simple carbohydrates, with a huge glycemic index. They do not stimulate insulin production and inhibit production of leptin - the hormone which turns off the appetite and controls body weight. Fructose inhibits copper metabolism leading to a deficiency of copper, which can cause bone fragility, anemia, ischemic heart disease and defective connective tissue formation. Here are the main risks of ingesting these sweeteners:
Huge weight gain
Increased risk of heart disease
Increased risk of osteoporosis
Increased risk of Adult Onset Diabetes Mellitus
Accelerated aging!
Acacia gum -
many people are allergic to this food additive, and many of them don't even know they are! Here are some of the more common symptoms of the allergic reaction to acacia gum:
* Mood changes
* Numbness
* Runny nose
* Watery, sore, red and itchy eyes
* Cough
* Hives
* Asthma
* Lip swelling
* Tongue swelling
* Throat swelling
* Nausea
* Vomiting
* Diarrhea
* Itching
* Sneezing
* Wheezing
* Headache
* Sinus pain
* Itchy mouth
* Tingling mouth
* Breathing problems
* Facial redness
* Facial swelling
* Redness around lips
* Constipation
* Skin flushing
* Swallowing problems
* Abdominal pain
* Eczema
* Sweating
* Low blood pressure
* Disturbed sleep
Partially Hydrogenated Oil -
Another killer. Read a detailed article about it: here! The article states that "Partially hydrogenated oils will not only kill you in the long term by producing diseases like multiple sclerosis and allergies that lead to arthritis, but in the meantime they will make you fat!"
Sodium ascorbate -
An alternative form of vitamin C, which is supposed to make it okay, except that it isn't. It contains a ton of sodium, which is obvious from its name. Sodium ascorbate over time causes high blood pressure, kidney stones, birth defect, cellular damage and cancer!
If you are going to eat soup, you better cook it yourself. If you don't know how or don't have time to do that, then buy soup that has only natural ingredients, such as Cruciferous Vegetable Soup. The ingredients in it are: Diced Tomatoes in Juice (tomatoes, tomato juice, citric acid, calcium chloride (The European Union and the U.S. FDA have recognized calcium chloride as a safe food additive. Calcium chloride is used for preservative and texture purposes, and in sports drinks. As an electrolyte, calcium helps maintain bone health and prevent muscle spasms, and chloride helps keep the heartbeat regular.)) Water, Tomato Paste, Bok Choy, Broccoli, Red Cabbage, Cauliflower, Carrots, Onion, Red Bell Pepper, Green Onion, Chicken Broth, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Cilantro, Garlic, Pepper Sauce (aged red peppers, distilled vinegar, salt), Ginger, Black pepper.
