There were many studies done about benefits of eating nuts. Like this one, for instance: One group of people were given whole grain bread, the other group - same bread baked with ground pecans. Blood tests were done for both groups a little while after eating. The second group whose meal contained nuts had much lower levels of LDL - the bad cholesterol, higher antioxidants in the blood, and higher vitamin E. They commented that the bread with nuts tasted better too.
